I have Meta Rayban. Hardware and product is great, but I no longer what to be tied to Meta, accounts, cloud, smartphone apps - I just want to record some videos with audio to a device and (somehow) get the data onto my phone / computer. The Meta Raybans are a bit too smart for me - I don't need AI, translations, LLMs... just to be able to take photos and record videos of my adventures.
After plenty of research, I found that the combination from Meta Rayban of microphone/video/speakers is not too common. Specifically, if we drop the speakers requirement, a bunch of other glasses become viable options. One of the main use cases Meta presents is AI translation and using the glasses as a smart assistant - which required speakers.
After some basic research, I sent ChatGPT off to pull some data together. I have not verified all of this (yet), but here is a shortlist of video/audio glasses that I'm looking at.
| Model | Camera / video | Stabilisation | Audio | Speakers | Storage | Recording battery | App required | Cloud/account | Weight | Weather | Price | Australia | Summary |

NOTE: AI Generated.
OHO Primex EIS
2K + EIS + local storage.
Simple workflow: record → USB/OTG → copy MP4. No account, app, or cloud required.
iVUE Denali
2K/30 or 1080p/60 + EIS + 8MP Sony sensor + 135° FOV + microSD.
App is optional; Wi-Fi is direct and requires no internet. Removable microSD (up to 128GB) makes it particularly independent. The 135° FOV is good for POV/action but very wide.
OHO Brave 4K
4K/30 + microphone + local storage.
Essentially a camera in glasses: no account, phone, app, or cloud required. USB/OTG file access and recording while charging. No advertised EIS, which could hurt moving footage despite the higher resolution.
OHO Edge Pro
4K + local storage + Bluetooth + open-ear audio + microphone.
Combines standalone recording with music/calls. AI/translation features are optional. Published battery information is inconsistent; assume ~30 minutes recording unless confirmed otherwise.
Solos AirGo V2
16MP + stabilized 2K + Bluetooth + directional speakers + microphones.
More polished smart-glasses hardware, but also more app/cloud-oriented than OHO/iVUE. Standard Bluetooth audio works independently, while some camera/AI functionality is more ecosystem-dependent.

Resolution ≠ Image Quality
Don’t assume 4K > 2K. Sensor, lens, bitrate, dynamic range and especially stabilisation matter substantially. For moving POV footage, a good stabilized 2K camera may outperform cheap unstabilized 4K.
